and where did you get that statistic..?
where in the constitution does it state “you have the RIGHT to health care”?
5 m out of the supposed “46″ million cannot afford it, the rest are either illegal immigrants or people who could afford it, but would rather have a plasma screen tv
It is a right. You have the right to buy health care coverage.
Anyone know the name of the song (and artist) playing during the opening and ending segments?
this video is kinda bullshit. There are still millions that actually can’t afford health care. This doesn’t solve our problem
Health care should be *free*, period. Health should be a right, not a privilege.
Verdafolio, And how do they “save money”?
It’s a miracle! July 22nd there were 47 million people uninsured, last Wednesday night Pres. Obama declared there were now 30 million unable to get insurence. 17 million found insurence in 6 weeks. At this rate every will be covered by Christmas. Or are the politicians playing games with numbers again?
None of what you quoted says government should provide health care. As I said, Jesus is saying this is what they should do because they are Christians, not because government dictated it. All three of those still point to free will and choice.
And I bet the Jews would disagree with the last one quite a bit. And that’s why religion has no place in our government.
“All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need.” Acts 2:44,45
“It is a question of a fair balance between your present abundance and their need.” 2 Corinthians 8:13,14
“There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:28
This is all I can recall at the moment.
You’re right and I oppose the illegal war on drugs. We haven’t fought a legal war since WWII.
Jesus would have just helped his neighbor instead of using government to force people to do it. It’s called free will and one of the main things he taught.
Why do you insist on comparing us to other nations? If the grass is so much greener on the other side, feel free to jump the fence for greener pastures.
You are the one saying America is worse than everyone else. I knew ‘general welfare’ would come up eventually. The supporters of this grossly misinterpret that clause. It was not designed to be used for charity. It means the federal government can promote the general welfare of the Union within the enumerated powers in the Constitution. UHC is not general welfare. It is individual welfare for a certain group of people.
There’s nothing in the US Constitution that allows for the war on drugs, for the president to continue a war without declaration and a lot of other things.
The two things that made me a believer versus non believer were:
What would Jesus charge for health care?
Why can’t we not only save money compared to every other nation but do it better than them?
No, I’m saying just exactly what I said. America is unique in that we are the only nation in history that is based on individual liberty and personal responsibility. Other nations don’t have the same rules government must abide by the we do. FYI, those rules are clearly spelled out in the Constitution.
Are you saying we are incompetent because our nation is based on liberty and responsibility?
It is simply your opinion that every other First World nation is doing better than us.
Whoa whoa whoa, you can’t be seriously saying America is worse than France or Japan?
Besides if the government took power, they could stick it to the insurance companies. Screw the special interests, do it for the general welfare of Americans as a whole and for the fact that every other country saves money.
The bottom line for me was that every other country saves money. It will cost a lot at first then it would go down, and my wallet would be happy.
We aren’t doing this because absolutely nothing in the US Constitution authorizes that the federal government do this. That alone should be enough. We aren’t doing this because it wont save money, but cost $100,000,000,000 a year on top of the trillions of dollars of debt AND deficit we are facing. We are burying our great grandchildren in debt a generation before they are even born.
Because it wont save any money. The CBO has already said it would cost a trillion dollars over 10 years. Name one government program that saved money. Medicare/caid is billions in te red. So is Soc. Sec. Costs are sky high because insurance lobbies for laws that benefit them. IOW, government created this mess by bowing to special interests. Having government take it over will not fix it. It will just make it less efficient. I still don;t care what other countries are doing. It doesn’t matter.
We made the Marshall Plan, we defeated Japan in WWII, we fought off the British, we won the Cold War.
America is great, there is no arguing that. So why aren’t we great enough to do this? Are you saying America is uniquely incompetent compared to other countries? That somehow we cannot do what is done in every other First World Nation has done because we’re somehow worse than them?
I don’t buy that one bit.
when someone comes into an ER for something that was easily preventable and they can’t pay, OUR TAX DOLLARS are used to pay the hospital. The force is already there.
What I’m saying is if every other first world country is doing it, why the hell aren’t we and saving billions in tax dollars doing it?
We in the US pay so much not because of lack of UHC, but because of government regulations. I don’t give a rats ass what other countries do. No other country on Earth in all of history was built on the foundation of individual liberty and personal responsibility. That is unique to America so what they do in France or anywhere else means nothing in the USA.
The difference is force vs. choice. No one forced to buy insurance and help pay for the cost of others. That is a choice. My employer is not forced to pay 100% of my premiums. That is their choice and a part of my compensation for the work I do.
Government is force, period. Obama wants to force everyone who can pay to pay for those who can’t.
Can you not see the difference between force and choice? Force is immoral. Choice is the American way.
health insurance necessarily means people besides you are paying for your care. also your employer pays 100% of the premium.
The Average American pays double in both tax dollars and in personal cost for health care versus any other first world nation. All of those other nations have UHC.
I can insure my family of five for $275 a month buying it on my own. My employer pays 100% of my premium.
How much money do you spend every month on internet access, cell phones, cable TV, dinners out, movies, concerts and all the other things that are not necessary for survival?
And why do you think your health insurance is the responsibility of anyone but yourself?
